Territory Manager

POSITION SUMMARY

The responsibility of the Territory Manager is to identify sites and negotiate the placement of donation bins with business owners, corporate offices, mall administrators, local counties, school administrators, church administrators, local area non-profits, and others.

The primary objective of the Territory Manager will be to solidify our position in the marketplace by increasing the number of new sites, securing existing sites, and maximizing donations through market strategy development. The Territory Manager will expand The Arc's current network of partners through relationship-building techniques, communication with site hosts, an aggressive sales plan, and ethical business practices. 

 

The Territory Manager will be responsible for daily, weekly, and monthly reporting and all associated internal paperwork, computer data, contact management, and other tracking methodologies. The Territory Representative will also be required to ensure that donation bin sites comply with local ordinances and permit requirements.
 

SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Find new sites and engage new site host.

  • Represent and sell The Arc’s collection model and mission in the community.

  • Generate and follow up on potential leads.

  • Safely operate a company car

  • Perform pre-placement site visits for approvals and bin placement recommendations as needed.

  • Negotiate new site host agreements.

  • Find, maintain, renew and expand corporate partnerships/multiple site customer accounts.

  • Coordinate effective education programs to promote The Arc in the community, including clothing and shoe drives.

  • Engage in action/investigations to manage competitor recyclers as appropriate.

  • Competition analysis, game plan and resolve.

  • Develop lasting relationships with site hosts that will help us in attaining our goals.

  • Collect Progress reports from site hosts.

  • Complete territory site development and donation optimization reports.

  • Investigate and retain sites that have requested box removals.

  • Track and report on customer complaints.

  • Assist consumers as needed with lost articles in bins from accidental donations.

  • Respond to and resolve customer service issues as needed including overflows.

  • Other duties may be assigned.

 

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be 18 years of age.

  • Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent experience) and 5 years of relevant and related experience.

  • Strong communicator and problem-solving.

  • Tactful, yet also assertive when necessary.

  • Excellent project management skills.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

  • Able to travel locally as required of the job

  • Valid driver's license and a driving record that meets the agency's insurability guidelines

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong customer service and rapport

  • Great persuasive and negotiation skills

  • Prior experience working with individuals with intellectual and development disabilities preferred, must be willing and able to work positively with adults with I/dd.

  • Able to work positively and effectively with a variety of personalities and work styles.

  • Strong work ethic / willing and able to 'go the extra mile' when needed.
     

 

PHYSICAL AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum 2 years B2B sales, marketing or fundraising experience

  • Motivated, energetic, and positive outlook

  • Innovative problem solver

  • Exceptional communication skills

  • Experience presenting information to small and mediums seized audiences

  • Acceptable DOL record (no preventable auto accidents in the past three years, no DUIs or reckless driving in the past ten years)

  • Flexibility to work hours based on business needs, including possible evenings or weekends

  • Emotional and physical health sufficient to meet the demands of the position offered.

  • Must obey all state and federal traffic laws at all times.

  • Must have freedom of motion to bend, stoop, twist, and kneel.

  • Documentation of CPR/First Aid Certification

  • Strength sufficient to lift 50lbs.

 HOURS AND COMPENSATION

  • $65k base plus commission

  • Company take-home car.
