Programs and Services Update

March 26, 2020

Agency-wide, we are complying with Governor Inslee’s 'Stay Home, Stay Healthy' Executive Order issued 3-23-2020. We are closely monitoring the impacts of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic to ensure our agency is taking appropriate steps to safeguard The Arc's programs, employees and member-clients.

The Arc of the Peninsulas administrative office (located at 3243 N. Perry Avenue in Bremerton) at this time is open only to essential staff.

The Arc Community Center/Friday Night Dance

The Community Center is temporarily closed, and its staff have been temporarily laid off. Evaluation of when the Center will be able to open will be determined by the status of the local school districts, government directive on social distancing and ability to maintain health and wellness of center members and staff. We plan to bring all our staff and members back as soon as we are able.

Mission Fulfillment Department

The Mission Fulfillment Department is temporarily closed, and all employees have been temporarily furloughed and laid off. We plan to ramp up donation collections as soon as it is feasible, allowable per the State of Washington, affordable and safe.

Community Guide & Inclusion Program

Community Inclusion Program: All external community-based activities have been placed on hold. Staff is currently evaluating the priorities of all member-clients and responding to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic within a person-centered approach. Staff has launched Community Connections, an online resource for our member-clients based on Zoom and IMessage.

Advocacy and Family Support Programs

Our Advocacy and Family Support Programs: (Parent to Parent, Individual Advocacy. & Sexual Violence Prevention and Training) will continue with restrictions regarding one-on-one meetings, classes, support groups, and workshops except what they will be offering remotely or online. Program coordinators will be available via e- mail, telephone, or video conference to support individuals with an intellectual or developmental disability and their families.

Representative Payee Program

Our Representative Payee Program will continue operations with limited restrictions. We will continue to provide assistance to help clients manage their monthly income, pay bills, stay on budget and avoid predator lending and financial exploitation.
