MATERIAL HANDLER II (FORKLIFT OPERATOR)
POSITION SUMMARY
Since 1938, The Arc of the Peninsulas has provided services locally to tens of thousands of individuals with developmental disabilities and their families throughout the Olympic Peninsula region. In the process, we have tirelessly promoted the acceptance and inclusion of people of all abilities, advocated for the most current research-based improvements, and opened new doors in helping people achieve a lifetime of success.

This position is a hybrid position; the incumbent will collect, handle, process, and prepare all raw-materials received into finished-materials for warehouse inventory storage, sale, and shipment to the customer. Additionally, the incumbent employee will be responsible for loading and unloading material while utilizing a forklift in the warehouse facility.

Please note that this is a highly physical position.
GENERAL DUTIES
Raw Material Handling/Warehouse Support
-
Load and unload trucks as required, utilizing forklift, pallet-jacks, pull carts and Gaylords, in addition to working by hand.

Place processed materials in in the designated area. Sorting all miscellaneous donations categories including metal, plastic, electronics, cardboard and remaining Miscellaneous Items

Stage finished product in designated loading areas.

Sweep floor in the miscellaneous area to remove debris collected from the day’s sort.

Ensure no broken glass, or debris is in the work area.

Empty garbage cans and sweep work area daily
-
Work Schedule, 5-day work week must be available to work weekends, 7:00 AM Start Time.

Warehouse Forklift Operator
-
Obtains copy of production schedule or shipping order and transports materials to and from designated areas in the facility

Loading and unloading goods from vehicles such as baled clothing and palleted used goods.

Moving goods packed on pallets or in crates around the warehouse facility
-
Stacking goods in the correct storage bays, following inventory control instructions
-
Checking loads are secure
-
Stacking empty pallets
-
Performing daily equipment checks such as fueling and lubricating equipment
-
Other duties as directed to support the functions of the department.

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS
-
Must be 18 years of age.
-
Prior experience working with individuals with intellectual and development disabilities preferred, must be willing and able to work positively with adults with I/dd.

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or equivalent combination of education and experience.
-
Able to work positively and effectively with a variety of personalities and work styles.
-
Strong work ethic / willing and able to 'go the extra mile' when needed.

PHYSICAL AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
-
Regularly sitting on a powered industrial truck
-
Rarely may need to lift items, with assistance an excess of 50lbs to 75lbs.

Having a good sense of balance
-
Having good eye-hand-foot coordination
-
Ability to assess weights and judge distances and heights
-
Ability to work in varying temperatures, depending upon season
-
Acceptable DOL record (no preventable auto accidents in the past three years, no DUIs or reckless driving in the past ten years).
-
Flexibility to work hours based on business needs, including possible evenings or weekends.
-
Emotional and physical health sufficient to meet the demands of the position offered.
-
Ability to pass a criminal background check.
-
Must complete an Operator Safety Course for the operation of a Sit-Down Forklift.
-
Must be certified to operate a forklift.

Documentation of CPR/First Aid Certification

HOURS AND COMPENSATION
-
$17.50-$20.29/per hour, based on qualifications.
